Hej,
Greetings from Berlin. Hope all is well in Ennis. I had a look at the The Pubs of Ennis photo project and found it quite fascinating! Nice to have them documented and a lot of work clearly went into it. It sounds like there's great craic to be had at the pub these days and the updates on the website and Facebook are great. Fair play to everyone for putting in the effort and making it such a positive, lively place!
Cheers, or 'Prost' as they say in Germany!
All the Best,
Dara

Jennie Moroney Butler
Hi - It is exciting to see photos of Moroneys on your website! My father was Daniel Patrick Moroney and his great grandfather was Thomas Moroney (born about 1817 in Ennis) who married Margaret Rafter (born about 1820 in Ennis.) They settled in the midwest of the United States in the early 1850's. I live in Maine (USA) just about 2 hours north of Boston.
My husband and I will be visiting Ireland next summer for about a week to celebrate our 30th anniversary and I can't wait to visit Moroney's! I plan to have more family research done before I arrive and hope to find a connection to the Moroney's currently living in Ennis.
Take care and see you next summer! Jennie Moroney Butler

Not a patch on your mighty pint Charlie :-).As for the Euro's you might as well be on the moon, no one interested here and not a greyhound in sight ! Hulahul

Dear John,
I received it this past Tuesday and was going to send you a couple
of 'my' shirts in return. Your shirt is awesome! I wore it to a golf event
on Saturday and many people mentioned the shirt. My wife and I have
decided to plan our 45th wedding anniversary trip to your town rather than
take a cruise. It will be our first trip to Ireland, and the first trip to Ireland of
any of 4 generations of our Moroney family. We have some good Irish friends
here in Tucson that will come with us. Thank you very much for the shirt and
it is something I will hand down to my grandkids someday.
Thank you,
Ken Moroney

Hi Merry,
Delighted to hear from another Moroney. County Clare is seen as the home of the Moroney family and of all the counties in Ireland would have the highest proportion off people with that surname. There are also pockets of Moroneys in south Tipperary ( no relations) around the picturesque Glen of Aherlow but by and large it's seen as a Clare name.
Indeed Ennis is a great base for touring the South of Ireland and the coast drive around Clare taking in the world famous Cliffs Of Moher and the Burren landscape is one of the most scenic you will ever encounter. It was great you won a trip to the Emerald Isle and we would be delighted to see you in Moroneys for one of our great trad music sessions on a Wednesday night or Sunday evening and to taste a great pint of Guinness.
Best Wishes,
Johnny Moroney
